I’ve seen 16 of these. The Night of the Hunter was deceptively scary. Robert Mitchum was amazing.

Anyone that enjoys Breaking Bad should go watch some Robert Mitchum films. Some extraordinary performances there.

Yup. Robert Mitchum in Night of the Hunter and Cape Fear in particular for creepiness, but he did so many other good movies.

I can’t believe it. I’ve only seen 6 of those. I remember watching this presentation on Bravo… although it blows my mind that it was 2004.

You might have seen one of the later specials! It seems like they either replay them or have new ones around Halloween every year. Either way, it always seems like another welcome sign that Halloween is around the corner!

I love that they put “Signs” on. A lot of people are critical of that one, but I really enjoyed it. And I liked the subplot about faith and something beyond. SPOILER ALERT! The fact that how many years earlier, his dying wife gave him the clue to save themselves, thereby restoring his faith in something bigger gave it an element of story beyond just a horror.

That’s one of things I’ve always enjoyed about this special. Scary can be so subjective – I love that they didn’t try to constrain it to just pure horror movies, or widely-accepted-as-scary films.
