Investigation and recovery efforts are now in full swing in the town of Loreto, following the devastating crash that occurred on Tuesday. The incident claimed the lives of the pilot and crew members who were on a relief mission.
According to a report from PTV 8 Agusan del Sur, which is run by the provincial government, scene-of-the-crime operatives and Air Force investigators reached the site early Wednesday. Their mission: to meticulously examine the wreckage and pinpoint the technical and operational factors that contributed to this tragic event.
The Eastern Mindanao Command (EastMinCom) has confirmed that the helicopter was en route to Tactical Operations Group 10 in Butuan City when it crashed in Loreto. The aircraft was part of a formation of four helicopters dispatched from Davao City. Their primary objective was to conduct a Rapid Damage Assessment and Needs Analysis (RDANA) mission, a crucial step in providing aid following Typhoon Tino.
But here's where it gets controversial... The 60th Infantry Battalion had already secured the area since Tuesday, ensuring the safety of the site and assisting in the recovery efforts.
So far, six bodies, believed to be those of the pilot and crew, have been recovered from the site. This marks a somber beginning to the investigation.
